Spring Update
We’ve continued to witness awe-inspiring displays of bravery in the fight for immigrant justice. From training community members to serve as constitutional observers, to passing local laws to protect our families, to making noise in the streets – the members of the Brave of US coalition remind us every day why this work matters and what’s possible when our communities come together to truly make this the land of the free.
LA Roasts the Regime
In March, the Los Angeles Brave of US contingent took to the stage for a very special night. “Brave of Us: How to Ridicule a Ruler” was a live comedy fundraiser hosted by Saturday Night Live and Marvel star Sasheer Zamata, alongside Jane Fonda, Jenny Yang, Aparna Nancherla, Zainab Johnson, and Reggie Watts. All proceeds supported organizations on the frontlines of defending our communities in Southern California and across the country: Comunidades Indígenas en Liderazgo (CIELO), Haitian Bridge Alliance, and National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON).

Baltimore Joins the Brave of US
Across the country, Baltimore City Council passed the Safe Spaces and Communities bill after fierce advocacy from Brave of US coalition member CASA. The bill protects immigrant communities from ICE interactions – and marks a powerful moment of local leadership in the face of federal pressure. As CASA’s Crisaly De Los Santos said: “This victory belongs to immigrant families who organized, spoke up, and demanded that Baltimore choose them over fear, family separation, and chaos… we are thrilled to see Baltimore join the brave of us taking a stand.”
Brave of US Tattoo Contest
Ohio Immigrant Alliance has officially launched the Brave of US tattoo contest, calling on all tattoo artists and apprentices to express what it looks like to be in solidarity with immigrants. The contest was covered in the Cincinnati Enquirer, and submissions will be accepted through June 30. Winning designs will be available as free downloadable flash for artists and customers nationwide – and sold as a limited-edition temporary tattoo booklet to fund OIA’s immigrant protection work. Help spread the word by sharing this image on Instagram.
AstroSocial in NY
On April 18, Noticias Para Inmigrantes is hosting AstroSocial in Brooklyn, New York – a cosmic, coffee-fueled daytime gathering designed to celebrate Latino culture, build meaningful community, and bring astrology to life. Attendees will be answering the question, “Who is the bravest person you know?” which will be turned into video content. RSVP here.

Brave of US Artwork
Coalition member NEA worked with artist Favianna Rodriguez to create beautiful Brave of US artwork. You can download the artwork here on NEA’s Art for Activism page. Be sure to tag Favianna (@favianna1) for artist credit.
